Aspinook Pond-Canterbury, Lisbon, Griswold

Aspinook Pond is located within the towns of Lisbon, Griswold, and Canterbury. It is an impoundment of the Quinebaug River in the Thames River Drainage Basin. The shoreline is mostly wooded with a cluster of residential developments in the central part of the lake. A railroad track flanks the southeastern shore while another track parallels most of the western shore and crosses the northern end of the pond. A private campground is located on the western shore. Aspinook Pond is approximately 301 acres.

REGULATIONS

  • No closed season
  • Informal boat access off Butts Bridge Road, no facilities.
  • Commercial launch (fee charged) at private campground off Ross Hill Road.
  • Butts Bridge is the demarcation line between the pond and the Quinebaug River.
