Candlewood Lake-Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Sherman

Candlewood Lake (5064 acres) is the largest lake in the state of Connecticut. The lake is fed by the Housatonic River, Sawmill Brook, Squantz Pond Ball Pond Brook and several other small brooks and its only outflow is to the Housatonic at the north, in which a pump storage hydroelectric facility is located.

REGULATIONS

  • Open 6:00 a.m. 2nd Saturday April–March 31
  • TROUT MANAGEMENT LAKE
  • Trout: From March 1–March 31; Daily creel limit—1, 16″ minimum length.

BOATING REGULATIONS

  • Slow-No-Wake in Lattins Cove from the south end north 2,500 feet, and in Squantz Cove from the causeway south 1,500 feet. 45 MPH daytime limit, 25 MPH limit 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise. M.S.D. (toilet) on vessels shall not be capable of overboard discharge.
