Identification
Streamlined tuna with very long pectoral fins reaching past the second dorsal fin; dark blue back, silvery sides.
Habitat
Open ocean; reaches the offshore canyons south of Long Island and Block Island in summer and early fall.
Behavior
Fast-swimming schooling fish that feeds on squid and small fish in cooler, clear blue water.
