Identification
Massive, torpedo-shaped tuna with a dark blue back, silver belly and short pectoral fins.
Habitat
Offshore and around Block Island and Cox Ledge from summer into fall.
Behavior
Highly migratory and powerful; feeds on herring, mackerel, sand eels and squid.
How to Catch
Topwater plugs, jigs and trolled spreader bars. An HMS permit is required and limits change often.
